SHORT TRIP TO BILBAO

SHORT TRIP TO BILBAO

Yes, today we are going to take you out of La Rioja, to visit one of the most emblematic cities of the Basque Country, and for this we recommend a trip to Bilbao.

Do not panic, Bilbao is just 1 hour drive from Haro through the AP 68 so, leaving Haro early in the morning, you will enjoy the whole day in a city with many charms such as Bilbao.

Let’s go for it!

One of the most recommended visits in our trip to Bilbao is the Guggenheim Museum, opened in 1997 and designed by Frank Gehry. At first glance it stands out for the curved shapes of the museum that changes color depending on the light that is projected on its facade.

The old town of Bilbao is ideal to wander through its streets and enjoy the charms it has, also called the neighborhood of the Seven Streets. Typical are the glazed balconies of the balconies that give it an aspect with a lot of charm and personality.

La Alhóndiga is a multi-functional center where you will find cinemas, restaurants or explosion rooms, it is a peculiar building with 43 columns inside that make it different from the rest.

If you get hungry look no further, get into the old town and go into the different taverns and bars typical of the city and so you can taste delicious snacks accompanied by a variety of wines.

The market of La Ribera is another of the points of interest of the city that you have to visit. It is the largest covered market in Europe where you will find a wide variety of fresh and local products from the Basque Country. In addition, there is a restaurant area where you can taste the local gastronomy.

On the other hand, if we take the funicular, we will arrive at the Artxanda mountain viewpoint where we will enjoy the best views of the city visualizing the most emblematic buildings.

We know that we left out many points of interest, from the Arriaga theater, the Plaza Nueva, the Museum of Fine Arts or the church of San Anton, but we leave it to you to plan your getaway to Bilbao.
