VISIT TO THE CAVE OF THE 100 PILLARS

As followers of our blog you know that we like to talk about places of interest that you can visit on your trip to La Rioja and today we are going to talk about a visit to the Cave of the 100 pillars in Arnedillo.

The Cave of the 100 pillars is a cave excavated in the clayey rock around the town of Arnedo. And in its kilometers of caves, the Cave of the 100 pillars stands out as a cave complex formed by galleries and caves, which hide in them great mysteries about the origin of the same.

Located in the Cidacos Valley, it has its origins in the Middle Ages, and it is thought that its main function was to protect against the insecurity of those times. Its imposing pillars support the ceilings of the cave and the function of these galleries could also have religious foundations, although this has not been confirmed.

It should be noted that it is possible to visit the Cave of the 100 pillars and we can get our ticket at the tourist office of Arnedo. It is certainly a highly recommended visit for the whole family that will not leave us indifferent at all.

As much as we say it is best to make a trip from Haro to carry out the visit. By car you will have about an hour and we encourage you to complete the visit with a gastronomic experience of the area and end a great day.

Or, on your way back to Haro you can spend the afternoon in LogroƱo, which is halfway between Arnedo and Haro, get lost in the commercial center of the city and why not finish the day with a route through the taverns of Laurel Street.
