ALL SAINTS’ DAY IN LA RIOJA

One of the most emotional festivities is approaching because of what it represents, the memory of our loved ones who have passed away. But from our blog we want to talk to you in a more festive tone, so we are going to propose you to spend All Saints’ Day in La Rioja and more specifically in Haro.

It goes without saying that locally the cemeteries of La Rioja are full of people bringing flowers to their deceased relatives, but for the visitor, this day, which this year coincides with the weekend, is a special occasion to make a getaway to La Rioja.

On this occasion we are going to prepare a day for you to get to know the cultural heritage of Haro, focusing on its palaces. We have a variety of stately palaces with imposing buildings and a lot of history behind their walls.

The Salazar Palace, built in the 18th century, shows the transition between the Herrerian and Plateresque styles with different decorative and architectural elements.

The Palace of Tejada of plateresque style was built between baroque and neoclassical. It is a three-story building that was restored in 1986.

The Palace of the Sevillanas of baroque style was restored in 1993 where it emphasizes its cover with the entablature on Tuscan pilasters. At the present time they are houses for particular use.

The Palace of the Plaza de la Cruz is a baroque building of the eighteenth century consisting of three floors with six balconies lined up on its main facade, making it a majestic building in the heart of the city.

Palace of the Counts of Haro, also with three floors, was built in 1959, initially in Renaissance style, although with a clear evolution to the Baroque style.

Palace of Bendaña, located in the medieval wall of Haro and built of ashlar stone where its gallery and its two facades stand out. In this building we will find at the present time the office of tourism of Haro.

Palace of the Bezaras of baroque style and built like the Palace of Bendaña of ashlar stone. It has two floors on Calle de la Vega and three on Calle San Roque.

And finally the 17th century baroque style Pisón House with a garden door unlike the rest. You can see the name of the two most influential families of the city in those times.

We have already planned the day for you to know part of the historical heritage of Haro and as we always say from Wine & Soul Suites we will be delighted that you can stay in our luxury apartments.
